President of Senate Samdech Say Chhum Receives Lao Ambassador

PHNOM PENH: On Monday Morning, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Say Chhum has received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Amphay Kindavong. The Lao Ambassador has expressed his appreciation for the rapid progress of Cambodia, despite the recent COVID 19 crisis in Cambodia, adding that Cambodia is country rich in cultural heritage, especially Angkor Wat and Preah Vihear.

Amphayt Kindavong has also emphasized that bilateral relations between the two countries have demonstrated close ties and cooperation through a series of video conferences or in particular, the exchange of visits of both country leaders. Recently, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Phankham Viphavanh led a delegation to pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude to the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia for their support to Laos, especially financial support, vaccines and medical equipment. The Ambassador noted the two countries' parliaments have good relations and cooperation with each other, especially between the Cambodian Senate Friendship Group and the Lao National Assembly Friendship Group.

The Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of ministries, institutions at both the national and sub-national levels who have always provided good cooperation for the success of diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Cambodia. He also hopes the Senate National Assembly and the Royal Government will continue to support the new Ambassador and the Embassy of Laos in Cambodia.

On behalf of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, President Say Chhum expressed his appreciation for the successful diplomatic mission of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia, strengthening friendship, solidarity and cooperation for the benefits of people from both countries.

Say Chhum expressed his pleasure to see the friendly relations, solidarity and good cooperation between the people of the two countries. Prior to the Covid-19 crisis, top leaders, top officials, ministries, departments and the people of the two countries often exchanged visits and supported each other about many issues within the framework of regional and international cooperation.

The President of the Senate expressed his deep gratitude to the Lao National Assembly for attending and supporting the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting and the 8th Conference of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Parliament, which the Cambodian Parliament is the leader.

Samdech Say Chum is confident the Lao National Assembly will continue to support and assist the Cambodian Parliament as the rotating chair of the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in 2022. On behalf of the Senate and on his own behalf, the President of the Senate expressed his readiness to establish good cooperation with the new Lao Ambassador and the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Cambodia. He has also extended his greetings to the top leaders of the Lao People's Democratic Republic with deep respect sympathy.
